2008 Grant Recipients

Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world's largest breast cancer organization awarded more than $100 million in research grants, representing the largest single-year investment in research in the organization's 26-year history and a 30 percent increase over last year's award total of $77 million. The 2008 grants slate moves Komen for the Cure closer to accomplishing its goal of investing another $2 billion in breast cancer research and community health programs by 2017.

Since 1995, the Northeastern New York (NENY) Komen Affiliate has granted more than $1.5 million to local organizations in upstate New York. This year’s grants, totaling more than $267,000 were awarded to fourteen organizations that are working locally to reach the needs of those impacted by breast cancer. Seventy-five percent of the net income raised by the NENY Affiliate through the Race for the Cure and other activities held throughout the year stays in the community to fund these programs in our 11-county service area. The remaining 25% of funds go to the Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant programs supporting research, awards, and educational and scientific programs around the world.
